So the good news is that I have been moved from my inside cabin to a balcony suite. The bad news is that I am being forced to isolate for at least four days - and probably more - because, yes, I have COVID. I tested positive today with a home test and it was confirmed by the medical staff.
So, yes, snorkelling in Barbados and Grenada and touring St, Vincent are not going to happen. This is my view in Barbados instead.

The medical staff here seemed perplexed that I would admit I had tested positive when my symptoms are so mild, There are a lot of people coughing and sniffling on this ship. But I was worried that they would notice I had not turned up for my snorkeling excursions (which they are refunding), and not appeared at the dinner table, and not allowed the cabin steward to clean my room ... and then boot me for not being honest about it.
I was also worried they would boot me if I confessed to the positive test. But, no, the protocol is three days of isolation after which time they will test me, and then test again the following day, and I stay here until I am negative for two days straight. Which 100 per cent sucks.
But there is the balcony (though the German lady next door who must also have the virus is hacking up a lung) and they will serve me my choice of meals and even wine. So ... lots of reading and maybe some sun for this girl for at least four days and probably longer ... but no going ashore or socializing on board.
My friend Josie from Windsor says I have to look at the positive side of things ... everyone on this ship is going to get it eventually... and I got it in the Caribbean which is a place I can easily return to ...as opposed to the really exotic places like Samoa or Papua New Guinea.
So ... lucky me! 😊
Hang in there, Glorgal. You got this! (But sorry you have the ‘vid)
Wow, wow. Such a mix of feelings. So glad you are not ‘hacking up a lung’ and glad you can sit on your balcony in the sun, so it could be worse but man I’m so sorry and I hope it doesn’t keep cycling through the boat! And of course you would be honest!!!! Geez! Get well soon and I look forward to stories from your balcony!
Oh, so sorry but you are right. If you have to get, now and there is the time and place! And you have a balcony. Are they going to take that away from you afterward or will this be the bonus?
